Belkin has announced it will end technical and app support for a range of its older Wemo smart home products, effective January 31, 2026. The company began notifying customers of the decision via email, outlining which devices and services will be affected.

After the cutoff date, the Wemo app used to control these older devices will no longer be supported. Any features that rely on cloud connectivity—including remote access and voice assistant integrations with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant—will cease to function. Belkin will also stop providing technical support, firmware updates, and software updates for the affected products.

For Apple users, there is a key exception. Belkin confirmed that Wemo devices configured for use with Apple HomeKit before the January 31, 2026, shutdown date will continue to function locally through the Home app, even after Wemo's cloud services are discontinued.

The company noted this decision does not affect its newer, Thread-based products. These models, which include the Wemo Smart Light Switch 3-Way (WLS0503), Stage Smart Scene Controller (WSC010), Smart Plug with Thread (WSP100), and Smart Video Doorbell Camera (WDC010), will continue to work as they do today. The move to end support for older Wi-Fi models aligns with a broader industry shift towards newer, more interoperable standards like Matter, which is built on technologies like Thread.

Belkin stated that customers whose products are still under warranty on or after the end-of-life date may be eligible for a partial refund. The company has created a support page with a full list of affected products and additional details on the refund process.
