Apple's first foldable iPhone will be a "super thin" design achievement, but it will also be "ridiculously expensive," according to new details from Mark Gurman. The device is expected to be the star of Apple's 2026 product lineup.
In his latest newsletter to subscribers, Gurman says users should "imagine two titanium iPhone Airs side-by-side." The description suggests an ultra-thin device that builds on the design language of Apple's new iPhone Air and aligns with the three-year iPhone overhaul Gurman previously detailed. Other reports have also pointed to a titanium frame for the upcoming device.
Gurman also reaffirmed that the foldable will come with a premium price tag, stating he continues to believe "it'll be at least $2,000."
As for when it will arrive, Gurman expects a launch in the "usual fall iPhone launch period" of 2026. He notes that while there has been some "noise" about production in India, his information points to manufacturing at least also taking place with Foxconn in China. This follows recent reports that Apple was planning to build its foldable iPhone in India after a testing phase in Taiwan.
