Former Apple COO Jeff Williams Nominated to Join Disney's Board

The Walt Disney Company has nominated former Apple executive Jeff Williams to stand for election as a new independent director. The election will take place at the company's 2026 annual meeting of shareholders, where the board will expand to 11 members.



James P. Gorman, Chairman of the Board at Disney, cited Williams' extensive background in technology and global operations as a key asset for the board. Gorman highlighted Williams' experience helping to steward one of the world's most innovative companies as Disney continues to focus on creative storytelling and technological advancement.


Williams most recently served as Apple's Chief Operating Officer until his retirement earlier this year. During a tenure that spanned nearly three decades, he managed Apple's worldwide supply chain and oversaw its design team. He was instrumental in the development and launch of the Apple Watch and was the architect behind the company's health and fitness strategy. His departure in November was part of a broader executive transition that saw responsibilities shift to other senior leaders.

"I have long admired Disney's legacy of pairing imagination with innovation—leveraging new technologies in bold, creative ways to bring to life timeless stories and entertain its guests," said Williams. He added that he looks forward to working with Disney's leadership team to contribute to the company's future.

Shareholders will vote on Williams' election, along with the re-election of the current 10 directors, at the upcoming annual meeting.
