Apple has officially released iOS 26.3.1 and iPadOS 26.3.1, rolling out a targeted update to enable compatibility with its newest desktop monitors alongside general system bug fixes.
The primary function of iPadOS 26.3.1 is to add support for the recently announced Studio Display and Studio Display XDR. Apple's compatibility documentation notes that users must install this specific firmware version to connect supported tablets, including M4 and M5 iPad Air and iPad Pro models, to the Thunderbolt 5 monitors.
For the iPhone, the update is strictly focused on under-the-hood refinements. Apple's brief release notes state the software provides general bug fixes, arriving just a few weeks after the broader rollout of iOS 26.3. Meanwhile, developers are already moving forward with the next major system version as Apple continues testing the third beta of iOS 26.4.
Users can download the updates over the air by navigating to the Software Update section in Settings. For those who prefer a manual installation, direct download links are available on our iPhone Firmware and iPad Firmware pages.
