Claude Can Now Control Your Mac Using Your Mouse, Keyboard, and Screen [Video]

Anthropic has rolled out computer control for Claude on macOS, allowing the AI assistant to directly operate your mouse, keyboard, and screen.



Engineering lead Felix Rieseberg announced the release today, noting that the feature is live for Mac users while a Windows version is expected in the coming weeks. The capability is integrated into both Claude Cowork and Claude Code Desktop. By granting system permissions, users can instruct the AI to interact with any application on their machine to complete multi-step tasks.


Rieseberg said the tool is especially useful for automating legacy software or helping developers debug native applications. He also pointed to Dispatch, which lets users remotely control Claude on their Mac from a mobile device. In a demo, the assistant is shown receiving a text prompt on a phone and then navigating a Mac desktop to export a presentation as a PDF, capture a local dev server screenshot, and batch process images in a photo editing app.

The technology is still in its early stages. Rieseberg cautioned that Claude currently moves slower and more deliberately than a human user. The release builds on recent advances in Claude Sonnet 4.6, which improved performance for computer-based tasks. It also arrives as Apple expands support for agentic AI tools, including integration with Claude in Xcode 26.3.

Mac users can test the new feature by downloading the latest version of the app directly from the Claude website.
