Google is expanding Gemini Intelligence across Android with a new wave of AI-powered features designed to automate tasks, improve input methods, and personalize the user experience across devices.
The update goes well beyond traditional chatbot interactions. Google says it has spent months fine-tuning app automation on the latest Samsung Galaxy S26 and Google Pixel 10 devices, particularly for food delivery and rideshare services. Users can long-press the power button to give Gemini access to on-screen or image context. For example, you could point the camera at a travel brochure and ask Gemini to find similar tours on Expedia for a group of six, or open a grocery list in a notes app and instruct the assistant to build a delivery cart. Gemini performs the task in the background, displays live progress notifications, and pauses for final confirmation before completing a transaction.
Google is also expanding Autofill with Google through a new opt-in system called Personal Intelligence. Android devices will be able to pull relevant information from connected apps to help complete more complex forms across apps and Chrome. The company recently announced Gemini integration in Chrome as well, adding AI-powered tools capable of summarizing content, comparing products, and assisting with reservations and bookings online.
Input methods are getting an upgrade too. Google is introducing a new Gboard feature called Rambler that converts more natural speech patterns into polished text in real time. The system is designed to handle pauses, verbal corrections, and filler words automatically. It also supports seamless switching between multiple languages within the same message. Google says audio is only processed live for transcription and is not stored.
Android is also taking its first step toward generative interface elements with a new Create My Widget feature. Users can generate custom resizable widgets simply by describing the information they want displayed. Examples include personalized weather dashboards showing specific wind and rain metrics or weekly meal prep planners. The widgets will work across Android phones and Wear OS devices.
To support the new features, Android is adopting an updated design language built on Material 3 Expressive. Google says the interface changes are intended to reduce distractions and improve focus while using Gemini-powered tools.
Gemini Intelligence features will begin rolling out this summer on the latest Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices before expanding to watches, cars, glasses, and laptops later this year. The announcement arrives just weeks before Apple is expected to unveil its next major Siri overhaul in iOS 27, which is rumored to introduce deeper on-screen awareness and expanded cross-app functionality on iPhone.
