Apple has released iOS 26.5.1 to address a specific charging bug affecting the iPhone 17 lineup and the iPhone Air. The update is available now for eligible devices and carries build number 23F81.
According to the release notes, the patch resolves an issue that prevented wired charging on these devices when the battery was nearly drained. Because the bug is isolated to recent hardware, the update is exclusively available for the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, the iPhone 17e, and the iPhone Air. Older iPhone models are not receiving this particular software version.
This targeted fix arrives a few weeks after the broader public rollout of iOS 26.5, which introduced end-to-end encryption for cross-platform RCS messaging and a new Suggested Places feature in Apple Maps. Anyone dealing with the battery depletion glitch should install the patch to restore normal power delivery over a USB-C cable.
Users can download the new software over the air by navigating to the Software Update section in the Settings app. If you need to perform a manual installation, direct download links are available on our iPhone Firmware page and the iClarified IPSW Download wizard.
