Apple has unveiled the iPhone 17e, expanding the iPhone 17 lineup with a more affordable model that starts at $599. The device doubles its base storage to 256GB and is powered by the new A19 chip, shipping with iOS 26 and Apple Intelligence features.
"iPhone 17e combines powerful performance and features our users love at an exceptional value," said Kaiann Drance, Apple's vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing. "With A19 for incredible performance, double the entry storage, a smarter camera system, and enhanced durability, iPhone 17e is designed to stay fast, secure, and valuable for years to come."
The iPhone 17e features a strong yet lightweight aerospace-grade aluminum design with a premium matte finish, available in black, white, and a new soft pink. It sports a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with up to 1200 nits of peak HDR brightness. Ceramic Shield 2 protects the front, offering 3x better scratch resistance than the previous generation along with reduced glare thanks to an Apple-designed coating. Face ID handles secure unlocking, app sign-ins, and purchases. The Action button is also included, giving users quick access to features like the flashlight, Visual Intelligence, or custom shortcuts.
The iPhone 17e runs on Apple's A19 chip, built on a 3-nanometer process. It includes a 6-core CPU, a 4-core GPU with hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and a 16-core Neural Engine optimized for large generative models. The device also features Apple's C1X cellular modem, the latest-generation modem designed by the company. Apple says C1X is up to 2x faster than C1 in iPhone 16e, matches the speed of iPhone Air, and uses 30 percent less energy than the modem in iPhone 16 Pro, contributing to exceptional all-day battery life. The device supports fast wired charging over USB-C to reach up to 50 percent in around 30 minutes, along with MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging up to 15W.
The iPhone 17e features a 48MP Fusion camera that enables an optical-quality 2x Telephoto, delivering "two cameras in one." Users can capture photos at up to 48MP resolution or shoot in the 24MP default to balance image quality and file size. Portrait mode benefits from an advanced image pipeline that enables next-generation portraits, recognizing people, dogs, and cats and automatically saving depth information so users can adjust background blur after capture and change focus in the Photos app. The camera also delivers improved low-light performance with Night mode and enhanced HDR. For video, iPhone 17e records 4K Dolby Vision at up to 60fps, captures Spatial Audio for immersive playback on AirPods or Apple Vision Pro, and supports Audio Mix and wind noise reduction for clearer sound.
The iPhone 17e ships with iOS 26, featuring the new Liquid Glass design. Apple Intelligence features include Live Translation, Visual Intelligence, Call Screening, and Hold Assist. Safety features include Crash Detection, along with Apple's satellite capabilities such as Emergency SOS, Roadside Assistance, Messages, and Find My via satellite when outside of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage.
Customers in more than 70 countries and regions can pre-order iPhone 17e beginning Wednesday, March 4 at 6:15 a.m. PST, with availability starting Wednesday, March 11. The device is available in 256GB and 512GB capacities, starting at $599.
