watchOS 27.0.1 Fixes Unexpected Restarts on Series 12 and Ultra 4 [Download]

Apple has released watchOS 27.0.1 for Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 to fix an issue that could cause the watches to restart unexpectedly.

The release notes describe it as a bug-fix update, while the security page lists no published CVE entries.

Some owners said the new watches were rebooting multiple times per day, including while editing watch faces, making calls, using Siri AI, opening Apple Maps or the App Store, and recording workouts, with a few restarts reported while the watches were idle.

Owners can install the software from the Settings app on the watch or through the Watch app on a paired iPhone, with the watch on its charger and charged to over 50%.

It arrives just over a week after the public release of watchOS 27 on September 14, which brought Siri AI and other system improvements.
