Apple to Expand iPhone 5 Screen Size to 4-Inches?

Posted February 14, 2011 at 11:43pm by iClarified
Apple will reportedly change the screen size of its next generation iPhone to 4-inches in order to compete with Google Android devices, according to a DigiTimes report.

Component suppliers noted that the production lines for Apple's next generation iPhone have begun testing, and Apple is interesting in expanding the screen size to 4-inches to support the tablet PC market as the vendor only has a 9.7-inch iPad in the market.

Recent rumors have also predicted that Apple will release a smaller and cheaper iPhone nano that will use MobileMe cloud storage instead of flash memory.

First of all (GREAT) finally a bigger screen that is awesome if it is REAL.. Sometimes I just wish people would not report anything till the product is out on the market so that it doesnt end up being a FALSE HOPE... Second I just wish that I could put a group into the contact list. (I use windows 7 and office 2010) but I would like to be able to take a picture and or a video and or just compose an email and have a group called Family (Contact) and then push it one time and have it go to whomeever is in the list. I have been wishing for that for about 3 - 4 years. But I guess no one else ever does that. If you know how please let me know Thanks www.pdconner.com

"in order to compete with Google Android devices" Finally Apple is waking up from their eternal imaginary supremacy (of course only for IFANS) just hope they keep on......next..flash 10.1 support....8mp camera.....real multitasking (not putting apps backgrounded forever)......and tons more features.....

A question mark means that it's a rumor. You want them to stop reporting rumors too? They are just doing their job.....

I agree with you there. 32gb is too much of a squeeze

I've been begging for a 4" screen on the next iPhone since the SGS came out.. 4" is a perfect size for a smartphone I'd say!

A bigger screen would be great. The current iPhones have so much wasted space at the top and bottom. 3d would be good too.

So bigger iPhone 5? Then the iPhone 4 would look smaller, right? There's your iPhone nano!

Hopefully not the slide out keyboard. Any upgrade but that! A stand would b nice of some kind. I personally don't think physically the phone has to change much more. Better software is what I'd like to see. Like FaceTime anywhere anytime, wirelessly sync iTunes, ability to change themes, ui sounds and icons, and all the other great ideas ppl had in the jailbreak community apple should either offer out of the box in iOS or as an official app. Oh and let's not forget, a better antenna!!!! And lte compatible.

I agree about the keyboard. I've had phones with qwerty keyboards and the iphone's touchscreen is better than any of them.

I hope so... That would be a nice upgrade from an iPhone 4... I don't see what else they are going to be able to do at the moment...
