Wall Street analysts have begun cutting Apple estimates after rumors that the iPhone 5 won't launch on its previously expected schedule, according to Business Insider.
Reputable sites such as The Loop and TechCrunch have all predicted that Apple will not unveil the iPhone 5 at WWDC or launch the device this summer. Many are predicting a fall or even early 2012 launch.
With that in mind analysts are now revising their Apple estimates. Jefferies analyst Peter Misek, for example, announced the following cuts in a note today: ● FY 2011 revenue trimmed 4% to $103 billion from $106.9 billion (Apple's fiscal year ends in Sept.) ● FY 2011 EPS trimmed 5% to $23.03 from $24.17 (still above $22.93 consensus) ● FY 2011 iPhone shipments cut 8% to 65.7 million from 71.7 million (basically a 15% cut for the June and Sept. quarters) ● FY 2012 iPhone shipments cut 6% to 89.1 million from 94.9 million
If I were in Apple at a position of power to decide such things, and for some reason we were delaying the iPhone 5 until Fall so that it synced with the iPod typical schedule so all the handheld devices intro'ed on that time table; then I might just consider a very quiet week before WWDC bump of the iPhone 4 capacity to 64 GBs similar to what they did with the iPhone first gen devices. drop the 16 GB to 149. USD drop the 32GB to 225 USD and put the 64 GB in at 299 USD (subsidized prices of course)... Then in the fall intro the iPhone 5 at 32GB and 64GB and the mythical mini iPhone at 16GB ... (mini would have no GPS and maybe no WiFi, no gyro, etc. And maybe adopt the gestures to rotate the screen the nano uses and drop the accelerometer, in other words something like an entry level smart phone, with a 640x320 screen at retina display density)
Just saying, it can still be interesting even if the iPhone 5 is delayed...
But I think it will frustrate me and be on schedule. Sep is when I qual for a free upgrade and that would be too coincidental.
I am 3gs user. i was expecting to purchase i5. Iphone 5 delay means i don't want to wait and now i go for android device soon. very very disappointment.
