How Much of an iPhone is Made by Samsung?

The Economist takes a look who makes what inside the iPhone, and how much the various components cost, in a report released yesterday.

Notably, Samsung provides some of the most important components to Apple: the flash memory used to store your data; the working memory, or DRAM; and the processor. In total these account for 26% of the component costs for an iPhone.


Despite their working relationship, Apple has sued Samsung for copying the look and feel of its iPhone and iPad. Earlier this week the company won a preliminary injunction banning the sale of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in most of the European Union. Many believe this will permanently damage the manufacturing relationship Apple has with Samsung.
