New Report Predicts Thinner, Rather Than Thicker, iPad 3

Contrary to prior reports, a major accessory manufacturer has told Cult of Mac that the new iPad 3 will in fact be thinner than the iPad 2.

A major accessory manufacturer already working on iPad 3 cases has told Cult of Mac the upcoming device is measurably more svelte than the iPad 2, despite the fact that the iPad 2 is already Apple's thinnest profile iOS device.


This contradicts a recent report from iLounge who claims to have gone hands-on with the device and found it to be about 1mm thicker.

It does seem unlike Apple to go back a step in thickness; however, it's said that the Retina Display's need for a dual light bar system may give the company no other choice. Unless, of course, the rumored IGZO display is happening.
