I am getting the YouTube has restricted the feed for this video on most links, if I search for say kylie or rihanna no links work at all. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, no change, even paid for the app, but still don't work, it's a shame as it looks nice. Any other ideas ?

The developer of this free app is also the creator of Alien Blue, an app for iOS devices to browse Reddit. If you use Reddit and own an iOS device, I can't recommend Alien Blue enough; trying to use the Reddit webpage, even with Reddit Enhancement Suite, is downright grating after using Alien Blue.
Anyway, as for the name Jasmine, I believe he(?) developed it as a side project for his daughter, named Jasmine, and it sort of turned into something worthy of releasing to the public, though retained his daughter's name.
I wish there was a way to force youtube videos to load in this app similar to how if the Youtube app is installed, Google's url automatically launches said app and loads the video there. As it stands now, the url of the video, if no Youtube app is installed, is launched in the html5 ios-specific site, which in my opinion isn't nearly as good as a dedicated app interface.
Also, as to being able to install on lower than iOS 6: this is a personal question for each development team to deal with. Do we want to provide support, app updates, and the additional code included in the binary to support lower iOS versions? Maybe yes, especially if it is a paid app(increased potential revenue from more potential customers), and if the differences in the code and API use aren't big.
However, for a free app like this, which is really a hobby for the developer, it makes the work much easier to simply restrict to the highest general release of iOS (6 here). Plus, with the over-the-air updates on iDevices, and with the release of a new iDevice (the iPhone 5), many more people will be on iOS 6 more quickly than, say, upgrading from iOS 4.x to 5.
Finally, I haven't had any issues with playback failing, but you could try in the app settings-> Advanced Re-sync API settings. Also, it could be a setting the video's creator set when he or she uploaded the video (restrict from mobile viewing, restrict embedding, etc.). I'd be interested to know whether if a video cannot be played in this app, it can be played embedded in a non-youtube page or via the ios-web interface. It might be an issue with the video, not the app.

He originally wrote the app for his daughter and named it after her.
