Apple's rumored iPad mini event will reportedly have a strong iBooks focus.
In what will likely be completely unsurprising news to many, we've now heard from multiple sources that Apple's as-yet-unannounced iPad mini event will have a strong focus on iBooks. Since an iPad mini would likely be squarely aimed at those who wish to partake of media on their tablets, that would make a lot of sense.
Yesterday, AllThingsD reported that Apple would be holding an event on October 23rd at which it will likely unveil a smaller tablet...

They may not physically sell more books, but I think they'll do all right, and their profit margins are MUCH better!

Um, I dont think so. Margins don't mean shit if nobody buys from you.
Amazon sells the same ebooks as Apple does, but for less. Consumers know that and that's why they shop at Amazon and not Apple. Apple also knows it, and that's why they had to resort to collusion just to give themselves a fighting chance.

I wonder if it will include further improvements to iBooks? It's rumored that mini will have enough hardware enhancements to entice current iPad users (with a possible iPad 3 update), so I'm interested in what they'll announce, even though I've got no real desire for a mini myself.

I love it!!! It's so much better than those crappy wanna be smaller tablets. You know these will sell themselves despite the few negative comments on here. Absolutely great iPad mini or iPod giant. It's still a great product others could only dream manufacturing.

Nah, there's still a clear distinction between the products. The new iPod Touch is for those who want an iPhone without needing an actual phone (or the costly 3/4G network attached to it. It easily fits inside a shirt pocked, and behaves just like an iPhone. The iPad mini functions just like an iPad, only it's in an easier to use formfactor. I seriously doubt that the iPad mini will impact either iTouch or iPad sales. That's why it's been so overdue, because other manufacturers were taking advantage of a clear whole in Apple's marketing plans.
