Amazon is Planning a 4.7-Inch Smartphone for Release Next Quarter?

Amazon is planning to release a 4.7-inch smartphone in the second quarter of this year, according to DigiTimes.

The company was previously considering a 4.3-inch screen but later scrapped the idea after witnessing increased demand for larger size screens among consumers, said the sources. Amazon has also reportedly been working on enhancing other specifications of the smartphone. However, the sources did not reveal if Amazon's recent changes to the device were the reason for rumors in the market stating that mass production of the device may be delayed until later in the second quarter of the year or possibly later.

While Amazon does want to release the device in the second quarter of this year, production at Foxconn apparently hasn't been as smooth as expected which could lead to delays.


Recently, it was also reported that Amazon has a 7-inch $99 Kindle Fire HD tablet in production. The company is denying the rumor.
