The iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c were both released today, and Apple is claiming the demand is "incredible" for the new devices.
“Demand for the new iPhones has been incredible, and we are currently sold out or have limited supply of certain iPhone 5s models in some stores,”
The gold model in particular seems to be in very short supply, with some stores only receiving a handful (less than 10). Apple has reportedly asked suppliers to increase production of the Gold iPhone 5s by one third. Ship times for other devices are also pegged at 7-10 business days.
Carriers seem to be hit the hardest, citing their inventory as “grotesquely unavailable." AT&T has ship times of 7-28 business days -- meaning it could take up to 4 weeks for them to ship the device.
The only way for users to get their device on launch day this year was to wait in line, which prompted many users to head to Apple stores all over the world. iPhone 5c supply does not seem to be an issue, especially since Apple offered pre-orders for the device.
Were you able to pick up an iPhone 5s and if so, how long did you have to wait?

Order online from AT&T (space grey 64G, upgrade for 4S) - initial delivery date given 20-30th Oct. Email received early Saturday stating it had shipped expected delivery Monday by 8PM. Already at local FedEx location so will be here easily tomorrow

What a bunch of crock from Apple. No pre-order and artificially limited the supply for 5S to create lines at their stores just to claim the demand was incredible. We all know that the reason 5S was low on supply because they build more 5C and bet it to be a high seller which did not materialized. As a shareholder, I am losing confidence on Apple, Tim Cook in particular.

13 hours at Westfield, London, UK, we stayed overnight.
there were less than 20 gold iPhones available, I got a 64 GB Gold, the last gold iPhone in store today! as I was leaving the store, I was told they were also out of silver ones and only had 32 GB Grey in stock. the queue was crazy with people arriving all through the night. I think at least 300 people stayed the night and at least 5000 queued in total. I'm guessing the queues were even worse at other stores.

I got a grey 64 gig AT&T 5S with no trouble at Crocker Park in Westlake, OH. There was only a short line. They said they were out of the others but I didn't want them anyway. The gold is ostentatious and just says 'steal me'. Imagine pulling that out while riding on public transit. And I keep my phone in a black case do the color is irrelevant

Got in line at midnight at apple store in Utah, by that time there were already 75-100 people ahead of us. Gold and Silver sold out with only a handful of people able to get them. I was barely able to get 32 Gb space gray, 64 Gb sold out.... Going to bed zzzzz
