Yes, anything introduced before wouldn't be different by a curve but the way this company does it I am sure it's just the same thing for s4 which will come to s5.

What's next, curved tv's, curved cameras, curved watches, curved chargers where everything is stretched out and not a perfect picture from angled views now?

So, now we're back to curved screen era.. Back then, we have convex screen followed by flat screen in late 90s.. Now, we have concave screen..

My HTC is the most spectacular phone ever, boom sound rocks big time. Like Apple and Samsung Nokia and BlackBerry but at the moment ONE is on the top.

Sorry dude... but windows/microsoft is backpedalling their mistakes since Ballmers departure unless they go on and follow Ballmers mistakes to another mistake again...

Is there a utility value of the phone's curved screen?

I remember a time when getting a flat display was an upgrade

How is this supposed to be useful? I remember when TV screens were curved. That caused distortion. An image on a curved surface is going to be distorted even if all horizontal and vertical lines are parallel. And if the screen isn't truly flexible so that you can bend it as you wish then it's even more pointless. A flexible screen, as seen in the movie "Red Planet" when the astronauts pulled out their map would be truly useful. Anything less is a waste of time.

Umm… so when you turn it to its side to play games… how is that going to be useful?

For Apple's credit... The Gear was only made and rushed to market to beat Apple's upcoming iWatch that had been trademarked all around the world already. Also, let's not overlook that the gear commercial is very similar to the original iPhone commercial from 2007.

Build it flexed the other way and add straps and you can wear it on your wrist...its an ergonomic innovation not a technical one.

Why did they feel the need to curve it? Just so they could say they did it before anyone else and call it innovation? There is no logical explanation for curving it like that.

Ever carry your phone in your front pocket? This will contour to your thigh, making it more comfortable to carry. Also, for viewing purposes, it'll be easier on the eyes and can be seen clearly from multiple angles, kind of like large movie theatres that have a concave screen. Having said that, I do not think this will catch on and is actually a pretty terrible idea from a market standpoint. And it looks horrendous. Galaxy Curve?

I can see how it would be better for a pocket but being concave actually limits the viewing angles. An led screen has a bowing angle of 178° but something concave cannot have the same viewing angle of the entire screen you'll only be able to the edge of one half of the screen.
