iPhone 'Phablet' to Debut in May, iPhone 6 in September?

Posted January 6, 2014 at 10:55pm by iClarified
A new report that surfaced today claims that Apple is actually planning to debut the iPhone 'Phablet' (a mix between a tablet and a phone) in May of this year. This rumored device will not be a part of the iPhone 6 family however, which as we expect, will launch in September.

The iPhone Phablet will reportedly feature a 5-inch or larger display a new 20 nanometer processor made by TSMC that either going to be a new A8 processor, or a revamped A7 CPU (A7X?).

Another report claims that the price of the iPhone 5s will drop $100 for "reasons unknown" -- however a phablet launch in May would explain any drop in the 5s.

As with most rumors, we have no way to assess the validity -- either way, 2014 should be an exciting year for Apple and the iPhone.

Would you consider buying an iPhone 'phablet' or stick with the traditional iPhone family?

Yes they shouldn't do it but competitors force them to do it because people buy phablets for big screens for a phone, at the same time apple should do and not do it, if they increased just the screen on the phone and kept the current overall phone size, maybe some people will buy back iPhone, increasing the entire thing will satisfy the picky big screen chasers.

I would buy it. I switch from Apple to Samsung because of the larger screen. However, I miss the seamless integration of Apple. I'm sticking with Google apps and sync until Apple gets something bigger. But, yes, I would buy it for sure.

What integration? Look who improved the fingerprint scanner, look who made a gold phone, a flash for a cam like any other, even 64 bit desktop support.ee

If I want a "phablet" (the stupidest thing ever made) would bought the crappy Samsung .. so NO! I have iPad for that. I want phone. That's way iPhone ... is iPhone ... Don't want and any changes in the design (for black - the best one was iPhone 5, 5S sick) expect maaaaaybe 4.7 inch display.

5 looked a bit too dark, I don't mind gray mixed with black, but since you pointed out 4.7 I thought you said you didn't want a phablet.

iPhone Phablet? Isn't that what the iPad Mini is for?? Albeit no phone calls... Dumb move if they ever went for it.

I agreed they should have a line of 4" and 5", so both hand- size are satisfied.

1. it's measured diagonally, 2. if you mean just a taller phone then no, looks too uneven.

This will not happen. It would be a stupid move for Apple. If you want a phalet, pick up the iPad mini. Makes no sense for Apple to make one.

They have to make it big but at the same time it was a promise Steve made (unless they don't continue releasing the 4" screen). Sure Steve knew how small sized phone is perfect but not for everyone especially the way people switch to android is just forcing them to do this just to get what they want. Until they stop making the 4", Steve will be disappointed.

I have just switched from an iPhone to a Samsung Note 3 due to Apple not releasing a phablet so yes I would consider switching back

I think I may be ready for such a device. Bigger than 5" diagonal would be just too much though. I can't pocket or one hand that, and that's the category these devices are supposed to fit: one-handed and pocketable.

Having a iPhone and a iPad is rather boring, one of them gets neglected at home. Apple I think needs to septet are sheep from good with their devices they are tooooo much of the samething and it's boring to have both.

What's the point of a phablet, it's like trying to make a PC into a tablet, but there is no difference if all you do is just add a keyboard, technically having both separate is a main reason it's a side people prefer, want small, get a phone, want big, get a tablet. SOLVED.
