Winocm has posted a video demonstrating an untethered jailbreak of iOS 7.1. The video which was posted to YouTube demonstrates the untethered jailbreak on a Verizon iPhone 4 (n92).
Details are scarce; however, it appears that the untethered jailbreak may also work on at least the iPhone 4S as well.
iH8Sn0w just tweeted: @winocm does this mean I have to bust out my camera and shoot an untethered 7.1 A5 boot? :P
No word yet on when or whether the jailbreak will be released. Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates as they become available.

I could really use this jb—got two old iPhone 4 units stuck on iOS6 because they both use the ancient SAM unlock and require a jailbreak to install the Lockdown files. No, the carrier does not provide IMEI unlocks even off contract and the scam unlock sites have never worked either.

If you're based in the uk O2 will unlock it for £15.

I am not in the UK and when I was last there, I asked and O2 required me to have the phone on their network before they could unlock. Of course, since it is is using a SAM unlock that limits the unlock to another non-O2 SIM only, it cannot be got onto the O2 network and so cannot be IMEI unlocked—Catch 22.

Guess you are aware. SAM unlock has a life of three years. Another 1+ years to go.
Could have updated to iOS 7.0.4. or 7.0.6. Missed that window

Yes, I know SAM has 1+ years still to go but by then we'll have moved on to two iPhone 6 units purchased unlocked from Apple—never again going to get sucked in to SoftBank's no unlocking ever policy.
I did not upgrade to iOS 7.04/06 because they were such slow dogs on the iPhone 4 but 7.1 has largely fixed that problem and would be nice to have if I can keep the SAM unlocks for another year or so.

This jb is legit. Only thing is that it may not be released for public. However, as you know there is tethered jailbreak for iPhone 4.

Where is Cydia? It does not appear to be jailbroken. Just fake.

Not seeing Cydia doesn't mean it's fake. Have you seen any stock iOS booting and showing command lines running? Perhaps not.

This would be good if its released
I'm still on 4.2.1 firmware on my iphone 4, and I don't really seem to have much options right now.

After users saying they wanted to stay on 7.0.4 on the hotspot article, they now know they have jb to get. They may have a choice once battery and hs is fixed though.

Just downloaded Geeksn0w and jail broke my 7.1 but this is the drawback it's a tethered jailbreak but this one is different. It u are away from ur computer and for some reason u reboot ur iPhone 4 or 4s u will not be able to start it. With the old tethered JB it was able to restart but without a JB but with this soft ware no
