Flappy Bird to Return in August with New Multiplayer Support

Flappy Bird to Return in August with New Multiplayer Support

Posted May 15, 2014 at 12:29am by iClarified
We knew Flappy Bird would fly again, but now according to the developer, we could expect the addictive game to make a return in August with multiplayer support!

For those of you that do not remember, Developer Dong Nguyen shocked users around the world when he tweeted that he was going to take down the game. "I am sorry 'Flappy Bird' users," it read. "22 hours from now, I will take 'Flappy Bird' down. I cannot take this anymore." Nguyen was pulling in $50,000 a day from advertising revenue because of the game before pulling it.

As promised, the game was removed hours later. Almost immediately, game developers rushed to fill the void with similar games such as Flappy Flyer, Flappy Wings, and others flooding the App Store.

Nguyen revealed that the took down the game because the attention became too much to handle. Paparazzi besieged his parents' house. He couldn't go anywhere without been spotted. "It is something I never want," he tweeted. "Please give me peace." A few months later, he announced the game would make a return.

Nguyen has told a CNBC reporter the game would return in August with multiplayer support. Hopefully this time it is here to stay.

It's basically the same game but it's not by the same Dong Nguyen from what I understand. They're either impostors trying to capitalize on the originals success or it's really him creating different games under different names and he's actually been screwing with everybody this whole time. But I highly doubt that. His original company or developer name is .Gears Studios. He currently only has 2 games in the store. Search his name and the first 2 games are his. All others are impostors in my opinion, using dotGear, and .Gears. Scroll down to the bottom of the app pages and you'll see what I mean.

Millions of people are going to be complaining about this game returning to the App Store with an update of multiplayer and all the people in the world aren't gunna be happy at all because 1 it's annoying 2 it's impossible 3 you keep dying all the time and 4 it gets people soo wound up and soo annoyed that they can't play it propperly. It's the worst game ever and the person who created the game should be sacked from creating flappy birds. In the next update in august it should have impossible lifes and impossible dying so you stay alive all the time and keep flying through the level gates.

If it has been him releasing all these different games under different names the whole time and has actually been doing all this for publicity just to throw attention at the other games in the store he is one smart dude and is raking in the cash.

This whole flappy phenomenon is kinda weird. And here's why. From what I've read it says the original flappy bird was released on May 24th 2013 and then was taken off the App Store in February 2014. The weird thing is that there is a game that is in the store now, which I mentioned in my previous comment, called snappy bird: new season. Which is developed by someone with the same name Dong Nguyen, company name .Gears, and was released April 9th 2013 and had 2 updates in April 2014. It says it was released a whole month and a half before flappy bird was released by someone named Dong Nguyen, and under company name .Gears Studios. So either this snappy bird was released first and was copied by him or this is his game also but under a different developer account. The more I research this I think he might just be doing all this for publicity and to gravitate attention to other games in the store that might be made by him also. Just think, he was making $50,000 a day from flappy bird alone. With all this talk and publicity for months, if he has had other games just like it in the store but under different names and accounts, that people think are clones, and are also making crazy money from the publicity. If all along they were all him to begin with, he's is one hell of a marketing genius. Then think when he releases a new version he'll be raking in more money than ever before. I have a feeling it was all planned and it was always just a way to make more money. It's pure genius. Anyone can do what I think he has done. You come up with a simple made and addictive game or some other kind of app. Release it in the store and let it sit awhile to see how it does. Then you contact a highly popular, highly subscribed YouTube tech channel, review channel, or review site. You ask them to play or review your game or app on the their channel to get widely seen. Make a deal with them that if the app becomes popular, takes off, and starts making tons of money, you cut them in on some of the profits for reviewing it. Then when it becomes popular you start making clones based off the same game or app. Then you just let them be. When your original app becomes crazy popular along with the clones you contact all the tech review sites and tell them that you're removing the original app for whatever reason. Then the clone apps you already have will start being downloaded like crazy. Then after those become popular and start making crazy money too you come out and make a statement saying that you are bringing back the "Original" app back to the store. You release it and CHA CHING. More money than you were making before and more than you could ever dream of. The way I look at it, if it was me making $50,000 a day id be more than happy. But just think. You do what I just said and you'd probably be making 3-4 times that a day alone. I guarantee it's what Dong Nguyen has done. It's pure F'ing Genius.
