Microsoft has announced a press event for September 4th at which it will reportedly unveil a new 'selfie phone' and perhaps another new smartphone with a PureView camera, reports the Verge.
The company sent out a press release entitled, "Ready for More?". It reads, "Join us for more face time in Berlin, Germany on September 4, 2014. Details to follow."
Stephen Elop is said to have recently showed off two new Lumia Windows Phones at an internal company meeting. One is described as a selfie phone and may be dubbed the Lumia 730. Images of the device leaked recently and can be seen below.
Also in the works is the Lumia 830, codenamed Tesla. It's said to feature a PureView camera. It's unclear whether or not both devices are to be unveiled at the event.
Notably, Microsoft's event is just five days before Apple is expected to unveil its iPhone 6.

Uh, at what point did we get more paid-Samsung shills than legitimate fans of news of Apple products? I'm sick of every article generating scores of mindless Apple bashing. If you don't like iPhones, then just don't visit the site. After all, I don't visit Samsung fan sites (but then again, I'm not paid to do so, either).

And of course, they schedule their press announcement only four days before Apple unveils the new iPhone 6. Good luck, MS. You've got a decent phone, but you've got a steep climb before you'll be considered a 'player' in the smartphone market.

My, my, my... Did Microsoft miss the fact that the "selfie" craze is on it's way out the door? You kinda look at people taking "selfies" with the same baffled look that we give people taking "duck face" pic's.... The trend is over and now you make a phone dedicated to the "selfie"? Honestly, is Steve Balmer still in a corner some where calling the shots for MS? Let's throw this piece of junk into the same warehouse that's holding the unsold Surface's and Facebook phones. ......
