Apple iPhone 6 Plus May Only Have 1GB of RAM [Image]

Posted September 16, 2014 at 6:07pm by iClarified
Many have been hoping that Apple will surprise us with 2GB of RAM in the iPhone 6 Plus; however, a recently posted screenshot suggests that won't be the case.

Earlier today, a screenshot allegedly from an iPhone 6 Plus running System Status was posted on a Korean message board. It shows device's memory at 975.6 MB.

We'll likely have to wait another day or two for confirmation of this but it doesn't look good for those wanting 2GB.

Take a look at the screenshot below and please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.

What you meant to say was if your OS is highly optimised why do you need more RAM?

Julian - September 17, 2014 at 12:45am
Yes, of course they are resource hungry, because it can do more. Why do you think your phone bogs down when you jailbreak and start doing all these cool things which you couldn't do before because you have an iPhone? Cuz you aint got no RAM. People think iPhones are faster, which in a way they might be in some cases, because you cant do much, so you dont need RAM. Dont complain about not having RAM, Apple wont add any because they dont add features. Just get an Android.

No, they don't add any because they can improve the chips power, why else are others adding more ram, to them, that's the only way to improve chips power, but this "not adding features" gimmick, come on, just jailbreak the device and add what you want. Depending on how much is stored may bog down the power.

Well yea, but wouldn't you rather just get an android with jailbreak like features right out the box , then get an iPhone and jailbreak

If it worked perfectly in the first place. I remember my first time with android since 2009. Oh god the horrors.

Look these up... 5 icon dock infinifolders (less useful now with ios7 than before) jellylock controllers for all snes/nes emulators (yes, i have an android tab, yes I'm aware they are available). Photoalbums+ (REALLY handy) Bolt Instahancer it's not just crappy themes and stealing 99c apps.

What a bunch of lies, I own an iphone 5s 64gb, downloaded a lot of apps, and one day I started running one app after the other and had about 15 apps running and switching from one to the other and guess what my iphone 5s froze, and started running slow, and I did not know what to do, so a friend of mine, double tap the home buttom and started closing apps and when it when down to 2 apps it started running again, so he figures the memory ran out. so then what, is it fair for what apple charges not to install at least 2gb of memory, it's way too expensive phone, I am very confuse, thinking on selling. I paid $749 unlocked gold. what a disappointment.
gamerscul9870
gamerscul9870 - September 17, 2014 at 12:21am
Apple doesn't use extra ram because they can improve the chips parts. The competition just adds ram, so either way it doesn't make a difference. Not a real disappointment when you find out.

Yeah, but they also add better processors and upgrade all the hardware in general. Instead of milking what you can from a V6, just get a thirstier V8 and add extra battery.

You need to wait for years before apple gives you more RAM. Thats how it works. Apple tricks

Why nobody wants to buy my old 5s gold 64gb, I paid $1,000 and because the 6 came out nobody wants it, I'm asking $800. Anybody....... Lucky you, I'm trying yo sell my iphone 5s gold 16gb, and nobody wants it. I'm asking $450 so I can buy the iphone 6 plus, and everybody is telling why would they buy an iphone 5s if the iphone 6 came out. So now what...

iOS apps have the best build quality out of any appstore. More iOS apps are used way more than their android counterparts. More iOS produces way more sales than any other appstore market. Apps get developed for the appstore first because devs know that's the best place to begin.

Who cares? Apples software runs flawlessly on low specs. They don't need much ram. I don't understand the "spec race" everyone wants to be a part of. Example: iPhone cameras are better that some 15 "megapixel" cameras. It's just sad how people buy for specs. I'm loyal brah. Apple has NEVER let me down. Their customer service is spectacular, and their products are top notch.

Exactly, in reality specs don't matter much, its like how some people thought the Ivy bridge processors were more powerful than the haswells because they were clocked higher, its a ignorant argument. The fact that Apple can run the phone's on geek bench with equivalent or better scores than a android phone with more ram/processing power just professes how iOS is better itself than android, at least where efficiency is concerned.

Julian - September 17, 2014 at 12:50am
Yes, that is true, Apples OS does run flawlessly on low specs, but just because it cant do much and doesn't have many features. Just get and Android, and free yourself. Why settle for less, when more costs the same?

Because your not just paying for the phone. Your paying for great support, a devices that you know will work 3-4 years down the road, great software support, and for quality. The iPhone is by far better Quality than most android phones on the market.

Julian Hernandez - September 17, 2014 at 12:33pm
Are you really going to talk about quality? Apple gives you quality in old Tech. You guys JUST got HD Screens and NFC. Phones equipped with Android have has that Tech for years. Finally with the new iPhones they managed to catch up a little, I guess they realized they better stop hyping up up old tech, and get with the program, and ACTUALLY Innovate. You can't deny that.

areilly111 - September 17, 2014 at 12:53pm
I was talking about build quality. And idk where you get your facts from but we've had hd since the 4s. And it's not even that old of hardware. Not like it needs any more to run smoothly. Maybe the camera but it's still pretty good.

TRUE HD my friend, as in 1080p, Apple hypes up their screen res. by calling it Retina Display because they know their consumers don't really care about specs, or know about them, that's why they have an iPhone.
areilly111
areilly111 - September 17, 2014 at 2:10pm
No people use iPhones because they know there goina work no matter what. AAnd having 1080p doesn't matter on a screen so small.

What a ridiculous statement. the iPhone is in desperate need of more RAM.

It's not a ridiculous statement actually, it makes complete sense
kapnkirk24
kapnkirk24 - September 16, 2014 at 6:36pm
Both opposing statements are plausible.. Yes any device could be more powerful, but there's a difference between "wants" & "needs".... The way Apple configures iOS, its functionality & SPECIFIC tailoring to the single device that uses it optimizes it's ability to WORK EFFICIENTLY & seamlessly. As opposed to Android OS which is "universal" & different manufactures, including Sansung NEED to add memory to support either their bloatware or otherwise crappy hardware, thus why they're benchmarks can't compete. Apple isn't about doing 1 thing right or having 1 piece of tech thats better than everyone else, they are about doing EVERYTHING right & having the best OVERALL experience for consumers. "Desperate need of more RAM.." Don't make me laugh!!!

iOS is running native and android is a java like OS. Everyone does java programming or similar knows how memory hungry it is and there is no way to manage memory by the application itself.
