A new research note from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that Apple sold 73 million iPhones in the fourth quarter of 2014. Kuo estimates that the 4.7-inch model iPhone 6 accounted for 42 million in sales while the larger 5.5-inch model accounted for just over 16 million.

In first quarter of 2015, Apple is forecasted to sell 61.7 million iPhone units and launch the Apple Watch. Kuo thinks the smartwatch will be released in March and sees sales of 2.8 million units for that quarter. It's possible that Apple could make a special announcement to reveal more specifications for the device before its launch.

Interestingly, Kuo is predicting that Apple will launch its rumored 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina Display sometime this quarter. The new notebook is said to fuel a 2.6% quarter-over-quarter increase in Mac shipments resulting in 6 million Mac units sold for the first quarter of 2015. Just yesterday photos were leaked that claim to show the top lid and display. You can check those out here.

Finally, Kuo revised estimates for iPad sales during the March quarter. Older models are believed to see a rise in shipments while newer models including the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 are expected to to see fewer sales than previously estimated.
