All Three New iPhones to Feature Wireless Charging?

All three new iPhones Apple is expected to unveil this year will have wireless charging capabilities, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

The iPhone 8 or 'iPhone X' with OLED display is said to feature a new 3D Touch module with 'additional graphite sheet lamination' to counteract increases in internal temperatures of the phone from wireless charging.

While we don’t expect general users to notice any difference, lamination of an additional graphite sheet is needed for better thermal control and, thus, steady operation; this is because FPCB is replaced with film, which is more sensitive to temperature change of the 3D touch sensor in OLED iPhone.

The new 3D Touch module is up to $5 more expensive per unit which could be one of many new components that results in the new flagship device costing over $1,000 USD. The iPhone 8 is expected to feature all-glass casing and a Home button that is embedded behind the display.

It's unclear whether Apple will use long range wireless charging technology; however, it has been critical of induction charging in the past. SVP Phil Schiller once said, "Having to create another device you have to plug into the wall is actually, for most situations, more complicated."
