Apple Begins Offering $29 Battery Replacements Today

Posted December 30, 2017 at 7:42pm by iClarified
Apple has begun offering $29 battery replacements as promised. The company issued the following statement to TechCrunch:

“We expected to need more time to be ready but we are happy to offer our customers the lower pricing right away. Initial supplies of some replacement batteries may be limited.”

Apple announced it would be dropping the price of battery replacements from $79 to $29 after it was discovered that iPhones were being secretly slowed down as their batteries aged. Apple touts the slowdown as a feature but it was put in place to avoid unexpected shutdowns on the iPhone 6s; something that doesn't appear to have occurred as commonly with earlier generation devices.

Make your genius bar appointment soon, as initial supplies will likely run out. The program is available to impacted users with an iPhone 6 or higher.

So either way that you look at it. Apple still makes money of each battery replacement and will force people to update to their current iOS. Apple see’s this as a win win situation. Making a bad situation into a good one on their behalf. JAILBREAKERS BEWARE!!!

They would have never TOLD ANYONE . THIS WILL also claim they need to update your software on the phone. Most likely will discourage JB on the phones . Jb is perfectly legal , yet apple blocks it is complete SCAM.

The batteries are not defective why should they replace them for free? $29 new battery for a 3+ year old device is a pretty good deal...

Apple is still hiding something else maybe concerning poorly engineered hardware, small batteries or iOS being a power hog. My iPhone 6 was perfectly fine (average of 6,5 - 7 hours of battery) on its original battery until iOS 10.2.1 came out, ¿bottom line? I'm still on iOS 10.2... random shutdowns included. Hope lawsuits hit them hard for shady acting apparently, they apologized so they basically agree something's wrong. Replacements should be free of charge, or even large-scale recall programs for the handsets. I'm sitting tight meanwhile.

Apple is still not owning up to their transparency. Batteries should be replaced for free.

Well, VW’s low emission policy was also a ‘feature’, just like this. Any cheat may be now labelled ‘feature’.
