Open Planet Software has introduced Smoovie 1.0, a new and easy way for users of all ages to create stop motion movies on the Mac and share them with the world. Designed exclusively for Mac OS X Snow Leopard and with support for the Mac's iSight camera and Apple Remote, easy-to-use editing tools and sharing to iTunes and YouTube, Smoovie has everything Mac users need to create, edit and share stop motion movies.
Feature Highlights: * Capture: Use the Mac's built-in iSight camera along with the Apple Remote to capture images straight into Smoovie. Onion skinning overlays existing frames with the live video to help make decisions about getting the next frame just right. For users who prefer to capture the action with a digital camera away from the computer, Smoovie can also import images from disk, iPhoto and Aperture.
* Edit: Smoovie's editing tools are modelled after a strip of film which makes them instantly recognisable and intuitive to use. Playback speed can be fine-tuned and both standard (4:3) and widescreen (16:9) aspect ratios are supported. Smoovie also allows a music soundtrack to be chosen from iTunes.
* Share: Smoovie features built-in uploading to YouTube and sharing with iTunes for watching on iPhone, iPad and AppleTV.
"We wanted to make stop motion accessible to everyone" said Gavin MacLean, co-founder of Open Planet Software. "I was making stop motion films with my kids and found that existing software was either aimed at power users already familiar with the technicalities of stop motion or it was clumsy, cartoon-like and frustrating to use. The aspiration for Smoovie is to make it powerful enough for amateur filmmakers and students while keeping it simple enough for young children. We hope we've created something which is attractive, intuitive and fun, without being condescending to our audience. Who knows, maybe a whole new generation of movie makers will be inspired to tell their stories through Smoovie!".
Pricing and Availability: Smoovie is available from the Open Planet Software website and costs $49.00 (USD). A free trial is available for download from the Open Planet Software website.
