Apple's Services division closed out a record-setting 2025, posting strong engagement across its platforms and facilitating $1.3 trillion in commerce through the App Store ecosystem. In a year-end performance update released today, the company highlighted gains in subscriptions, streaming viewership, and payment adoption, underscoring how its services business continues to grow beyond iPhone hardware.
The App Store remains the financial backbone of Apple's services. The company says the platform now averages more than 850 million weekly visitors across 175 countries. Since launching in 2008, developers selling digital goods and services have earned more than $550 billion. Apple emphasized that over 90 percent of the $1.3 trillion in commerce facilitated by the App Store ecosystem occurred directly between developers and customers, generating no commission for Apple. The period between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day set new records for customer spending, with productivity and photo apps among the top growth drivers.
Apple TV ended the year with record engagement. Total viewership hours rose 36 percent in December compared to the prior year, marking the service's highest monthly total to date. A major contributor was the global streaming debut of F1 The Movie, starring Brad Pitt, which Apple says is now the highest-grossing sports movie of all time. The recently rebranded service also added to its growing awards tally, with The Studio becoming the most Emmy-winning freshman comedy in history and Severance emerging as the most-awarded drama. Apple is set to expand its sports lineup further when it becomes the exclusive U.S. home for live Formula 1 races beginning in March.
Apple Music marked its 10th anniversary by reaching all-time highs in both listenership and subscribers. Throughout the year, Apple introduced new features such as Lyrics Translation and AutoMix, aimed at improving everyday listening. The service also expanded into new environments, including a partnership with General Motors to launch a native Apple Music app for vehicles that supports Spatial Audio without requiring a phone connection.
Apple Pay continued to expand globally and is now available in 89 markets. Over the past year, the service generated more than $100 billion in incremental merchant sales worldwide. Apple Wallet also gained new capabilities, including the launch of Digital ID support for U.S. passports, which is currently being tested at select TSA checkpoints. Support for digital driver's licenses and state IDs is now live in 13 states and Puerto Rico, with international expansion beginning in Japan through My Number Card support.
Apple Fitness+ saw its largest expansion yet in 2025, rolling out to 28 new countries and regions. To support the broader audience, Apple introduced digitally dubbed workouts in Spanish and German, along with Custom Plans that automatically create workout schedules based on user preferences.
Other services also recorded notable milestones. Apple Maps expanded its detailed 3D city experiences to New Orleans, Singapore, and Monaco. Find My extended its item-sharing feature to 36 airlines to help customers recover lost luggage. Apple Podcasts marked its 20th anniversary by naming the UK-based hit The Rest Is History as its Show of the Year.
Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Services, described 2025 as a "banner year" for the division. Cue said Apple remains focused on improving everyday experiences across its services while continuing to prioritize user privacy.
