Perplexity is stepping into the personal health tracking space with a new platform designed to sync medical records, lab results, and wearable data directly into its AI search engine.
The newly announced Perplexity Health acts as a centralized dashboard for fragmented medical data. It comes just a day after the launch of its Comet AI browser for iPhone, and introduces a suite of connectors for Apple Health, electronic health records from more than 1.7 million care providers, and platforms including Fitbit, Ultrahuman, Withings, and Clue.
The integration lets users ask questions based on their own health data rather than relying on generic web results. By bringing this data together, it can factor in recent physical activity alongside longer-term metrics such as cardiac history or bloodwork. Support for Oura and Function is expected soon. This follows similar moves in the industry, including the launch of ChatGPT Health, which also taps into the iPhone's health repository to ground its responses.
The platform uses Perplexity Computer to coordinate multiple AI agents working in parallel. It can build a marathon training plan from fitness data, generate a summary ahead of a doctor's appointment, or create a personalized nutrition plan.
To improve reliability, responses draw from premium medical literature, including clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed journals. Each answer includes citations linked directly to its source. Perplexity says this approach is meant to move beyond SEO-driven health content while providing clearer guidance on when users should seek professional care. The company has also formed a health advisory board of physicians, researchers, and health technology leaders to evaluate the system against evidence-based standards.
Privacy remains a key focus given the sensitivity of the data. Perplexity says all health information is encrypted in transit and at rest, with strict access controls in place. Users can manage or delete their data and disconnect sources at any time. The company also says that health data is not sold to third parties or used to train its AI models.
Perplexity Health on Computer will begin rolling out to Pro and Max subscribers in the United States in the coming weeks, with broader availability planned later.
