Apple has officially released watchOS 26.4, tvOS 26.4, visionOS 26.4, and HomePod Software 26.4 to the public. These updates bring a mix of new features, hardware compatibility, and system refinements across the ecosystem.
The visionOS 26.4 update introduces native support for the recently announced AirPods Max 2. Apple has also refined Spatial Audio on the headset, allowing it to start faster in familiar spaces by remembering the acoustic properties of rooms you have visited before. The update adds eight new emoji characters to the keyboard, including an orca, trombone, landslide, ballet dancer, and a distorted face. The software also brings backend support for HLS video podcasts, enabling adaptive streaming and dynamic ad insertion in the native Apple Podcasts app.
For the Apple Watch, watchOS 26.4 brings the same eight new emoji to the wrist. The update also includes a practical adjustment to the Workout app, adding a new workout type icon that lets users start a session with a single tap, a feature finalized during the Release Candidate phase.
The living room devices receive several notable interface changes. With tvOS 26.4, Apple has removed the legacy iTunes Movies and TV Shows apps from the Home Screen, directing all media purchases and rentals to the main Apple TV app. The update also includes a Continuous Audio Connection setting designed to prevent audio dropouts and popping sounds when switching formats on external soundbars and AV receivers.
The final build numbers are 23T240 for watchOS, 23L243 for tvOS and HomePod, and 23O247 for visionOS. These builds are slightly newer than the developer versions released last week, indicating Apple made final adjustments before the general rollout. Users can download the new software by navigating to the Software Update section in Settings on their respective devices.
