Apple has adjusted developer proceeds in three countries and will update App Store prices in four storefronts next month, following new and increased taxes, the company said in an Apple Developer update on Thursday.
The proceeds change took effect August 27 across Morocco, the Republic of the Congo, and Tanzania. Morocco has introduced a 20% value-added tax and the Republic of the Congo an 18% VAT, while Tanzania raised its digital sales tax from 2% to 3%. Because Apple now collects and remits those taxes in Morocco and the Republic of the Congo, Exhibit B of the Paid Applications Agreement will be updated to say so. Translations should follow on the Apple Developer site within a month.
Prices move on September 14 for the Israel, Indonesia, Morocco, and Republic of the Congo storefronts, and those updates account for the new VAT rates as well. The change reaches developers who have not chosen one of the four as their base storefront. If they have, that storefront holds its price while the others adjust around it to stay equalized.
Two things stay put. Auto-renewable subscriptions are unaffected in every region, as are storefronts where developers set prices manually instead of using automated equalized pricing. Apple attributes the changes to tax regulation and foreign exchange movements, and App Store Connect already shows the new figures under Pricing and Availability.
