Apple Updates Leadership Page as John Ternus Takes Over as CEO

John Ternus now sits at the top of Apple's leadership page after the company updated it on Tuesday, September 1 to reflect the scheduled CEO transition. Tim Cook is now listed in the Board of Directors section as Executive Chair.



The board section now includes headshot photographs for all nine directors, including a second photo of Ternus. The main executive list shrank by two: Cook moved out, and Kate Adams, whose retirement was announced in December 2025, is no longer listed. No one has been named to Ternus's previous position as senior vice president of hardware engineering.


Ternus's biography has roughly doubled. It now leads with his CEO title and board membership, and adds detail on his role in the introduction of product lines including iPad and AirPods. It also highlights his work on reliability and durability, as well as materials and hardware design aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of Apple products. Examples include a recycled aluminum compound, 3D-printed titanium in Apple Watch Ultra, and repairability advancements that Apple says have increased the life spans of several products. The bio still traces his 2001 start on Apple's product design team and his move onto the executive team in 2021 as senior vice president of hardware engineering.

Cook's biography grew more dramatically, and carries a new photograph. The expanded version catalogs products introduced during his tenure and adds considerably more detail on services and privacy.

Executives previously described as reporting to Cook are now listed as reporting to Ternus. Among the smaller changes, Phil Schiller's bio lost references to the App Store and Apple Events after he stepped back from those roles. Jennifer Newstead is now senior vice president of General Counsel and Government Affairs, while Kevan Parekh's entry clarifies that his remit includes Corporate Services, from real estate and Claris to Caffe Macs.

Deirdre O'Brien's bio now calls her a "35-year Apple veteran" rather than saying she joined in 1988, while Johny Srouji's entry was expanded to reference his work on Apple silicon.
