The iphone drop test done by a crazy fellow clearly shows it breaks if dropped... And so who would dare to keep it without a bumper? And if so why bother about the reception issue when held it over the slit?
Out of curiosity, does your iPhone 3GS suffer signal loss when the bottom right is covered? Not happening for me, but it should according to their 'flyer'. Why would they even suggest that line? Just asking for people to prove you wrong...like myself :)
it doesn't apply to every 3GS model, it's just a possibility in some, same as the iphone 4, though whilst it's a rarity in the 3GS it's too common in the iphone 4 seemingly
My iPhone 4 has better reception than any of the other iPhones I have owned, not one dropped call since launch day. Download speed is almost double and upload speed is triple of the 3GS. I know because I have Speed test that has all of my old speeds saved.
I know there is a problem with many iPhone 4's but it's hard to tell how big it is, bad news travels better than good. I know it sucks for the ones that have a problem and you will have to either trade in, get a zagg cover or case, wait for fix or return it.
But how many have to really try to get it to lose reception and it just bugs them knowing about it.
Me My wife and my friend have Iphone 4. I'm able to duplicate signal loose on all three devices. But in places with good reception it don't matter places with three bars or less will either drop the call when touched and/or the other side can't hear anything from you. Its the same on all three phones i played with so it is a issue. 3 out of 3 phones. Apple wants to side step this cause it would cost them alot. But I know they can afford free bumpers to everyone that request one. How much could those bumpers accually cost to make I'm guessing a dollar tops.
Wel it's not the material or the machines or shipping.
If they admit there IS a problem they may as well issue a recall for all iphone4 and forget selling the one's thats been already shipped, till they fix this problem. That's why!
I am having exact same problem. I dropped many calls and also frequently the other party can not her me and eventually the call dropped. Worst for me is in many cases the internet comes to a dead stop where even text email won't download. I had to let it sit in my desk to get it downloaded. I hold it in my left hand and use right hand for all swiping and keying.
Apple support is horrible. They blamed it on ATT and asked me to reset network setting. Called to local store to check if they might have the bumpers in stock (not asking free) and the answer was not so nice to just say they are out of stock. She cut the phone in couple of seconds as if she was trying to avoid a conversation.
On the other hand ATT was very courteous in trying to diagnose my dropped calls.
I don't understand why people who don't own an i4 chiming in on this issue. I have not had a problem with mine and out of 1.7 million if a few people are having issues, thats what the warranty is for. If there were no issues in consumer products then there won't be need for warrantys. So people chill out!!!!!
if it's that rare then why has the gentlemen who has posted above you managed to obtain 3 phones all containing the reception issue, must be million to one odds =p. i don't think the fact that you haven't had a problem yourself particularly speaks volumes for the overall statistics
I got my iPhone 4 on the first day of sale and have not experiences any reception problem it is by far the best phone I have ever had. Stop wasting time with this reception thing that I think most people are making up.
Ohhhh your right Apple, because I make all of my phone calls while the phone is laying on the table, I must not be having any issues. After all, to raise the phone up to my ear would be unheard of!!! Almost like the phrase, "Look But Don't Touch!!" needs to be printed on every iPhone 4 box now! HA!
I wonder if you even have an iPhone 4 because it seems the only people who talk about the reception don't even own one. I have one and it works flawless. It is only an issue when you are trying to make it mess up. No one that I know has had any issues. I have had every iPhone, and they are right when they say its the best reception of all of them. I have had my 4 since launch and haven't had a single dropped call.
For the love of God people...if you don't like the phone, don't buy it. If you already bought it, return it. The iPhone isn't for everyone. Simple as that!
it seems the only people criticising other's for mentioning the reception issue are the ones who don't have an issue. <-- look an equally useless statement :)
people with the issue complain, people without the issue complain about the people complaining -_-
