You can pay for it by buying Pandora One ($36/year). That will remove the ads.

I they need income then charge whatever for the app. I want to enjoy the music not be inundated with adds. They are trying to monitize everything now. Not a good trend.

Pandora now has audio advertisements, not just onscreen, actual music inturrepting commercials.
I do not support Pandora for that reason, and have stopped using it.
I tried Slacker Radio as a replacement, they Also have Audio commercials it turns out..
I hate the bait and switch game Pandora played, by starting with no Audio Ads, and once it created a following, sticking it to the listener..
The commercials are louder than the music too, really aggravating..

Pandora is a great app, however, the commercials do suck arse. In fairness, they do need income.
