Microsoft is reportedly considering to launch an own-brand tablet PC that features Windows 8 by the end of 2012 with cooperation from Texas Instruments and Taiwan-based OEMs/ODMs, according to DigiTimes.
Facing Apple's iOS and App Store successful assistance in helping iPhone and iPad to gain shares in the smartphone, tablet PC and even PC market, while Google has also been working aggressively on developing operating systems and establishing its own supply chain alliance, Microsoft plans to copy its branding strategy from product lines such as Xbox 360, Zune, Kin smartphone and TV, to compete in the tablet PC segment.
DigiTimes notes that the Xbox 360 is the only Microsoft product outside of the PC market to gain success; however, the company is reportedly proceeding on a low profile.
Microsoft recently previewed Windows 8 which features a new tile based Start screen which would greatly improve the user experience on a tablet.
Way to lead from behind M$. Honestly, this bunch of fuckwits wouldn't know how to create anything without looking at everyone else first. What a joke! Bald man Ballmer couldn't run a shit fight at a sewerage farm. By the time they get anything up and running, everybody else has moved on to the next innovative product. What is M$ good at? Selling licenses, that it!!
well duh. just look at the windows 8 preview video above. at about 0:40 you'll see they blurred out the images behind him that clearly show some sort of tablet device they've probably been testing. probably the one he's actually using in the video, since they're so zoomed in.
