All I do is upgrade to the newest versions and turn the new features off. I can use firefox 3 or 4 and save tons of memory probably.

it's psychological. when chrome, safari, and internet explorer (and i guess opera too) all have higher numbers of version numbers, naturally people associate 'modernity' and therefore functionality with higher version numbers. so it IE is at ver.10, safari at ver.6, opera at ver.12, chrome at ver.7, and then firefox is still on 4.7.16.74......you're not going to think of using firefox or trusting that it's keeping up with the modern browser market.

This is getting stupid. They need to focus on fixing minor bugs more than coming out with major updates

I like the frequent releases but kinda prefer the old-school revision numbering of incrementing minor digits for minor releases.

FireFox is only trying to catch up to Google Chrome.

I like the old numbering too it's just 4.2 , I don't think by increasing the version number firefox catch up with chrome
