Apple Releases iOS 26.6 RC and iPadOS 26.6 RC [Download]

Apple has seeded the Release Candidate versions of iOS 26.6 and iPadOS 26.6 to developers and public beta testers.



Carrying build number 23G71, this update represents the final stage of testing before the software rolls out to the general public. It follows a quiet development cycle that recently wrapped up with the fifth round of betas earlier this month.


According to the official release notes, the firmware focuses heavily on under-the-hood maintenance. Alongside standard bug fixes and security patches, the update specifically optimizes the Spotlight index to prepare devices for the upcoming transition to iOS 27. During earlier beta stages, we also noted that the 26.6 branch introduces a system alert that triggers if a user reaches the maximum limit of blocked contacts.

Registered developers and beta testers can install the Release Candidate over the air by navigating to the Software Update menu in Settings. Full restore images are also available through the Apple Developer Center for anyone performing a clean installation.
