Garmin Launches CIRQA Smart Band, a Screen-Free Fitness Tracker With No Subscription Fees

Garmin today unveiled the CIRQA Smart Band, its first screen-free smart band. Designed to minimize distractions, it offers up to 10 days of battery life and around-the-clock health and fitness tracking without requiring a subscription.



Worn either on the wrist or as an armband, the CIRQA Smart Band features a soft fabric strap available in seven colors: Citron Gray, Mauve, French Gray, Dark Olive, Captain Blue, French Blue, and Black. It continuously tracks heart rate, blood oxygen saturation (Pulse Ox), skin temperature, stress, and motion. The data syncs to the Garmin Connect app on iPhone and Android. Pulse Ox is not available in all countries, and the band is not a medical device intended for diagnosing or monitoring medical conditions.



For workouts, the band automatically detects and records a variety of activities and adapts its classification based on your patterns. You can also manually start any of more than 80 supported activities by pressing the single side button. Connected GPS from your phone enables accurate pace and distance for outdoor runs, walks, and rides, while LiveTrack lets friends and family follow your route in real time.



Advanced fitness metrics include training readiness, HRV status, VO2 max, training status, workout benefit, and recovery time. Sleep tracking includes sleep stages, sleep score, heart rate variability, respiration, and nap detection, with all data available in the Garmin Connect app.


For women, the band tracks menstrual cycle and pregnancy and can sync skin temperature data with the FDA-cleared Natural Cycles birth control app, though that app requires a separate subscription. The device is not a medical device, and skin temperature tracking is not intended to support conception, contraception, or birth control.



The CIRQA arrives as the screen-free wearable category continues to expand. Earlier this year, Google launched the screenless Fitbit Air with AI-powered insights, while Oura introduced the Oura Ring 5, 40% smaller than its predecessor. We also recently covered the growing pressure on Apple's wearables strategy from screen-free competitors. Garmin differentiates the CIRQA by including its health and fitness features without requiring a recurring subscription.
