Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8 [Video]

Samsung today unveiled three new foldables at its Galaxy Unpacked event in London: the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The company also introduced the Galaxy Watch9, Galaxy Watch Ultra2, and previewed two AI-powered smart glasses designs.

The new lineup arrives ahead of Apple's expected entry into the foldable smartphone market. Samsung's wider Fold8 design also follows earlier reports that the company was developing a "Wide Fold" to compete with Apple's upcoming foldable iPhone.



Galaxy Z Fold8
The Galaxy Z Fold8 adopts a shorter, wider form factor with a 10:16 cover display and a 4:3 main screen designed for browsing, reading, gaming, and video. At 201 grams, it is Samsung's lightest Galaxy Z Fold to date.


The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy and features dual 50MP rear cameras, a 4,800 mAh battery, and displays reaching up to 3,000 nits of brightness. A new Flex Titanium display structure combines a titanium-alloy film with an enhanced titanium plate to support a thinner design while reducing crease visibility over time.

The Fold8 replaces the Galaxy Z Fold7, which debuted last summer.



Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is Samsung's thinnest Galaxy Z Fold yet, measuring 4.1 mm when unfolded and weighing 215 grams. It features an 8-inch main display and a 6.5-inch cover screen.


Its rear camera system includes a 200MP main camera with HDR support in 200MP mode, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Samsung says the phone also supports 8K video recording using its new APV codec and Cine LUT controls, alongside a larger 5,000 mAh battery, 45W fast charging, and an expanded graphite cooling structure for improved sustained performance.



Galaxy Z Flip8
The Galaxy Z Flip8 measures 6.1 mm thick when unfolded and weighs 180 grams, making it Samsung's thinnest and lightest Flip model.

Its redesigned 4.1-inch FlexWindow can display apps, Now Brief information, and Gemini-powered task automation without opening the phone. The main display measures 6.9 inches with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

The Flip8 includes a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 4,300 mAh battery. New FlexCam features include Mirror view for checking framing before taking a photo, improved stabilization, and additional hands-free shooting modes.



AI Features and Cross-Platform Improvements
Samsung has expanded Galaxy AI across the new lineup with features including Now Nudge, which can suggest actions based on conversations, and an AI Assistant Activity dashboard that lets users review AI actions performed on their behalf. Gemini can also automate tasks across more than 40 supported apps and services.

The company has also updated Smart Switch to let iPhone users scan a QR code and wirelessly transfer data without downloading another app. Supported transfers now include passwords and passkeys, call history, accessibility settings, and eSIM information.

Quick Share also gains two-way compatibility with AirDrop on Samsung's latest flagship devices, with support debuting on the Galaxy S26 series and the new Fold8 and Flip8 models before expanding to additional flagship devices.

Samsung also introduced the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2, while Samsung and Google previewed two AI smart glasses designs expected to launch later this year.

Pricing and Availability
The Galaxy Z Fold8, Fold8 Ultra, and Flip8 are available for pre-order starting today in select markets. Pricing starts at $1,899 for the Fold8, $2,099 for the Fold8 Ultra, and $1,199 for the Flip8. Samsung is also including a six-month trial of Google AI Pro with 5TB of cloud storage.

All three foldables are available in Graphite and Cream. Violet Shadow is exclusive to the Fold8 Ultra, Lavender to the Fold8, and Pink to the Flip8. Samsung.com-exclusive colors include Green Shadow for the Fold8 Ultra, Pistachio for the Fold8, and Mint for the Flip8.
