Posted July 18, 2012 at 6:33am by iClarified
AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson has responded to rumors that AT&T may be planning to charge for FaceTime over 3G.

A screenshot from iOS 6 beta 3 hints that the company could charge for the feature.

When questioned about the situation, Stephenson told TechCrunch:

"I've heard the same rumor," he said, insisting that for now, AT&T is focused on working with Apple to get the technology stabilized, so "it's too early to talk about pricing."

We'll let you know as soon as we know more...

i read this on and early post. and i just copy to here, hope att reps read this and understand the meaning.(sprint)..We are committed to our unlimited data and that means not charging for data consumption based on the application,

That's now. What this means is that when the new package is rolled out, (insert name here) will start charging you for what they aren't now (other than data fees, which they throttle!)

Not if your considering dropping (name blocked) service. What he means is, "it's too soon to criticize a business decision BEFORE we've made any money off of it!

Looks like iClarified doesn't like me..hahaha. i wrote more the this words and only post (well at) scks. they should say how many letters can we write on the site,,any way im att costumer for quite while.. since first motorola razor came out then iPhone. wondering if att will rollover the unused data of the plan. i hardly use monthly 1.5 gsg and my wife 600mb. I'm happy with the service. but not much with the data cap plan. i believe in fair use but not 3 gsg. LTE will consume amounts of data. 3 gsg will not be enough monthly unless you only read text not videos or song hope they implement data share , to the family without extra charge,

What f'ing prices? As a European I don't even understand why the operators try to decide for you what you're going to use your dataplan for... You should pay for x amount of data, and use it for whatever!

That's what Verizon is doing now. They're Including tethering with what ever data plan you have. With their new data plans. More than likely they'll include FaceTime over 3G or 4G LTE when the iPhone gets it. But I think them doing that and including everything together they're hoping you'll go over your allowance and End up paying overage or switch to a higher plan.

@Nitro Junkie... agree. like att on the beginning the offer all you can eat. now they offer. all we can handle. the promotion is just to get people back.and then when the can handle the network stress. start capping data. i filed a complain when att cap to 2 gigs. and the next day att contact me over the phone. to hear what was bothering me. or what i dislike from the data plan. and in the next couple weeks they increased the gigs to 3. if they what to charge for the FT they will unless we all complain again and dare them on looking for better company. BTW i use 3g unrestrictor but hardly make FT calls. i will love to be able to use tethering with my iPad without charge. but thats my wish

on tethering i use iPdNet . wish hides the tethering. data . so far i haven't got any at txt message warning. but i only use the tether to download song lyrics not much. may be thats why the don't notice it. but again. I wish att let us tether without charge. otherwise jailbreak is the option. And I personally don't like jailbreak, because as son as you jailbreak the iPhone start glitching more often. in my experience. rather like to have it Normal.
