iPhone 5 Diagonal Swiping Bug? [Video]

iPhone 5 Diagonal Swiping Bug? [Video]

Posted November 10, 2012 at 2:33am by
CMA Megacorp, game developers, have reportedly spotted a diagonal swiping bug with the iPhone 5 and iPod Touch 5G.

iPhone 5 touch screen bug? Slide finger back and forth diagonally on screen, input events drop out or stop altogether.

Recombu put the bug to the test and found touch recognition was indeed affect by high speed scrolling.

Using the two iPhone 4Ss on the most recent versions of iOS and the same split on two iPhone 5s, we testing the theory that the diagonal scrolling input drops out on the newer handsets at high speed. The problem is exacerbated by scrolling diagonally and as you can see only occurs on the iPhone 5s.

Take a look at the video below...

I don't think this is a bug. It might be intended to stop rapid swiping like that.

Experienced this while playing temple run. Every few minutes the phone just won't respond to my swiping gestures, and then I just die (in the game). iPhone 5, iOS 6.0.1

This is a software bug. I have an iPhone 5 and can repeat the bug in the Mail app. If it were a hardware fault it should also happen in other use situations. Try dragging the notification center down most of the way and start swiping up and down as fast as you can. It will not lock up.

I tested this extensively and nothing happened; it just works smoothly. If the concern is Fruit Ninja, it should be tested there instead of the Mail app. I don't think people would do this in real life.

Ok I have a iPhone 4S running 5.1.1 and I was able to get to freeze as well, even as I changed my swiping to the vertical or horizontal swip it still stayed frozen until I stopped and everything worked fine, so it's not just the iPhone 5

it probably does it when the screen gets hot I don't I'm happy that I waited with getting the 5 I keep hearing of bugs but you guys that got an iPhone 5 try doing it while moving your finger from side to side so the touch screen won't get hot I wonder if that the problem
