Apple has released iTunes 8.1 and says that its "Faster, Smarter, Better."

Now available as a free download, iTunes 8.1 loads large libraries, browses the iTunes Store, and syncs with iPod, iPhone, and Apple TV more quickly than the previous version. There’s more. iTunes now automatically imports music from your CDs as higher quality, 256-Kbps iTunes Plus files, so your music sounds even better than before.

In iTunes 8.1, the Party Shuffle feature has been renamed iTunes DJ. The new feature lets iPhone and iPod touch users that have Apple Remote installed request songs to be played. Users can also vote to control when songs are played. The DJ feature can be password protected and can send a welcome message to users and control whether voting is turned on or off.

You can download iTunes 8.1 from here
