Citi Research Analyst Glen Yeung claims the iPad is "losing ground fast" as it is failing to keep up with the overall tablet growth the industry is seeing.
In his note to investors titled "iPhone Impresses but Questions Persist,"Yeung cites reported iPad shipments were down year to year while the overall industry tablet growth which is up sharply.
Apple reported 14.6 million iPads were sold during the company's third quarter, down from last year, when Apple sold 17 million iPads.
Year-to-year growth for iPad units will decline 7% for the upcoming quarter, notes Yeung. Even if Apple were to grow shipments by 75%, (6% year-to-year growth), they are still well below the industry growth of 58.7%
In the report, it was reiterated that Apple will be launching an iPad 5 and a new iPad mini in the coming months, which contradicts previous reports that there would be no iPad mini in 2013.
Selling Point is a Valid Jail-Break for Apps Purchased.. I have been WAITING for a JB some Time and been using my Android more.. Anyone Think this has something to do with the Drop in Sales also?..
I have an Ipad 1, 2, 4 and mini and I love it, but I know people buying Samsung for only one thing... PHONE, is one thing that I really do not understand, why not include the phone, they will double the sales. simple as that
They only reason that's happening it once people buy a phablet (s4) they pay more for size and repairs due to how poor the phone is, that's why soon they'll go to iphone instead.
Common, are you kidding me?????
Dude it's down in the last quarter because the iPad 5 will be released this year.... Obviously the share for "The Quarter" will drop pre-release.... But over all the iPad has the market on lock.....
Dont be one that's easily swayed by 1 article.....
Still pretty damned good! - July 25, 2013 at 7:32pm
Well, no pun intended but this is not necessarily comparing apples to apples... it's like comparing iPhone sales to cellular phones overall. Not exactly the same, but same principle. The iPad was not and will never be "the tablet for the masses", so its sales performance compared to the overall industry will never really match. I would not worry about this is I was Apple.
