Analyst Details Specs for the iPhone 6, Says Apple Could Move Sleep/Wake Button to Side

In his Apple roadmap research note, KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi-Kuo details specifications for the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 and reveals that Apple may move the sleep/wake button to facilitate one-handed operation on the larger devices.

Kuo says that Apple will first release the 4.7-inch model featuring a 1334x750 326ppi display. That's the same aspect ratio as the current iPhone 5s. The 5.5-inch iPhone 6 will get a 1920x1080 screen at 401ppi, also the same aspect ratio.

The iPhone 6 is predicted to have a new A8 processor, 1GB of RAM, a bezel that is 10 to 20% narrower, a thickness of 6.5-7.0mm (iPhone 5s is 7.6mm thick), and a NFC chip. The camera will remain 8MP with a f2.2 aperture; however, optical image stabilization will improve image quality without increasing pixel count.

Kuo believes that shipments of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 could reach 60 million units by the end of the year. The device will still be operable with one hand due to the narrower bezel and the side sleep/wake button. The 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is expected to reach nearly 9 million in sales by the end of the year; however, it could cannibalize sales of the iPad mini.

The 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is said to have a significantly larger battery with 50-70% more watt-hours than the iPhone 5s. Kuo also notes that only high-end iPhones such as the 64GB 5.5-inch iPhone 6 would have a sapphire glass display due to supply constraints. He says that Apple eventually plans to integrate Touch ID into the display and it needs sapphire glass displays to make that happen.

As expected, Apple will end production of the iPhone 4s and 4, and lower the price of the iPhone 5s and 5c to fill out the company's lineup.

I'd say Sharp copied LG if Sharp made 26" TVs and kept flapping their gums about how 26" is the perfect size and that 42" TVs are ridiculously huge. And now Sharp wants to make 42" TVs? Not only are they copying they are hypocrites. But you wouldn't see it that way would you?

What's next, resolution will be like theirs and say it's copied? What about how it woke like the other, the remotes like the other, that's copying. Size same or not, there's a difference.

Why not change the camera from 8mp?

Its asking for more than enough. They did so much without adding mp's.

I think it is smart that they left it at 8MP. People love taking photos and videos with their iPhones.. If they keep up increasing the MP of the cameras - we will respectively need more space.. I love that they left the 8MP of the 5S and just increased the quality of the photos without having to increase the size of the cam..

Appple, don't just waste your time copying components by components. Just buy some galaxy and rename and sell as iPhone ( though you do the same now by copying partially , let's not waste time)

Come on, they fit the headphone Jack to the bottom and I don't care where it does except sides, but how can moving the sleep/wake button be stupid?

I've had all the galaxy phones and was always annoyed how stupid the unlock/lock was on the side.

It's on the side to make the most out of "one hand use" so you don't have to reach the top. What else is there to keep it there?
