Apple has sent members of the press an invite to a special event on October 16th, reports The Loop.
The event will take place at the company's Cupertino, California campus starting at 10:00 am PT.
As is normal with Apple invites, there are no clues as to what the company will talk about or introduce at the event. Given the huge event in September where the company unveiled new iPhones and the Apple Watch, I suspect this event will focus more on existing products.

I don't think it refers to one thing. Its a catch all phrase for a few things overdue. Retina display to iMac, Mac Mini update, Touch ID to iPads.

They might as well have said, "HEY, WE'RE DROPPING NEW iMACS", because any Apple follower knows everything else has been updated at least somewhat recently. There is another possibility though, albeit an unlikely one, but I think it is POSSIBLE (NOT LIKELY) that Apple could release one of their longest rumored products this month, an actual Apple TV...you know, the kind with a display.

I think Apple TV and iPod Touch would be some surprise. Existing products might also get updated.

Exactly, has he done anything good to Apple? Or he is just trying to follow the rest? I think he forgot that Apple is the #1 company and that the rest of the competion should follow them not the other way round. I hope they come up with something Mind blowing.

I think so it is Apple TV the TV not the Apple TV box because as before in an interview of Tim Cook he said that it is been too long for the old TV's and he even said that we are working on things that have not even been rumoured about let's see on 16 hope for the best

I think the focus will be on "continuity"... like when you see someone you haven't seen in a long time, you say "it's been way too long". Here the point is the way the iOS devices and OS X are coming together with common features, interconnectivity, and continuity.
