AppleCare+ Now Covers Batteries That Hold Less Than 80% of Their Original Charge

Posted June 26, 2015 at 5:50pm by iClarified
Apple has updated its AppleCare+ extended warranty to cover iPhone, iPad, iPod, and Apple Watch batteries that are holding less than 80% of original specs.

If during the Plan Term, you submit a valid claim by notifying Apple that (i) a defect in materials and workmanship has arisen in the Covered Equipment, or (ii) the capacity of the Covered Equipment’s battery to hold an electrical charge is less than eighty percent (80%) of its original specifications, Apple will either (a) repair the defect at no charge, using new parts or parts that are equivalent to new in performance and reliability, or (b) exchange the Covered Equipment, with a replacement product that is new or equivalent to new in performance and reliability.

Previously, Apple would only replace a battery if it had dropped to 50% of its original spec.

AppleCare+ for iPhone extends your coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your iPhone and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a $79 service fee plus applicable tax. AppleCare+ is $99 for iPhone, iPad, $59 for iPod, and $69 for Apple Watch.

Notebooks batteries are made for differently or act differently because of how they work with a device that's not mobile. I wouldn't worry about this if my iPhone's battery acted like this because my Ampy always keeps it full no matter what stands in the way since it's done without a wall outlet or to be clear, electricity.

1. It's not my idea. 2. It happened since October 2014. 3. If you think about it, it has received phenomenal reviews for how something not as simple as this can give you charging power without sunlight or wall outlets.

Ampy is a piece of cr@p - why carry more equipment around if the buzz-word is 'mobility'?

Ampy is a portable motion powered charger that proves what moving around has more of a reason to be done. I got mine preordered working flawlessly. It's nearly as wide as the iPhone 6. My point being Ampy is what quality charging is. Say goodbye to wall outlets for good.
