The iPhone 6s will feature a reinforced back plate, according to measurements of a leaked back plate.

Previous rumors have suggested that Apple would switch to using 7000 series aluminum to strengthen its next generation device and put an end to Bendgate.

Unbox Therapy was able to obtain a back plate allegedly for the iPhone 6s and found that it was slightly taller and wider. The iPhone 6 measures 138x06mmx66.91mm, just slightly smaller than the iPhone 6s plate which measured 138.09mmx67.16mm. However, the most notable change was the thickness of the frame around the volume buttons. The iPhone 6s measured 1.90mm thick, significantly thicker than the iPhone 6 at 1.14mm.

Despite the added thickness, the iPhone 6s back plate weighed in at 25g, 2g lower than the iPhone 6 at 27g. This lines up with Apple's description for its new alloy used in the Apple Watch. "For Apple Watch, we created a new alloy of 7000 Series aluminum that’s 60 percent stronger than standard alloys. Yet it’s very light."

Apple is expected to unveil the new iPhone 6s at a September 9th event and more parts for the device are beginning to surface ahead of the announcement. You can check out the alleged Force Touch display here.
