Secret Microsoft Tablet is One of Many?

Sources indicate that the Microsoft Courier Tablet is legit; however, it is one of many prototypes, according Mary Jo Foley of Cnet.

My sources say it's legit, but I'm hearing that it's just one of several prototypes that has been cooked up as part of a skunkworks project being led by executive J. Allard and a small team of 'Softies.


Foley learned that Microsoft has been trying to keep Allard's work under wraps. They have even located his team well away from the main Redmond campus. Few at Microsoft even knew of its existence before yesterday.

Its unclear whether any of the Microsoft tablet prototypes will ever make it to market; however, Foley notes that the tablet PC is a long-held dream of founder and Chairman Bill Gates, who said that he hoped the device would continue to evolve even after retired from full time work.
