New York Times Editor Hints at Apple Slate

New York Times executive editor Bill Keller hints at an "impending Apple slate" during an all hands meeting for the paper's digital staff.

The meeting was supposed to be an "off the record" presentation. Keller makes this comment on the Apple tablet at approximately 8:15 into the video.

Sixth, we need to figure out the right journalistic product to deliver to mobile platforms and devices. I'm hoping we can get the newsroom more actively involved in the challenge of delivering our best journalism in the form of Times Reader, iPhone apps, WAP, or the impending Apple slate, or whatever comes after that.

The comment may have just been based on rumors circulating in the media; however, it is possible that Keller has first hand knowledge of the device because of the close relationship between Apple and the New York Times.

In fact, a recent report claimed that Apple has already contacted the paper about putting their publication on the new device.
