Scotty Allen, an American engineer, entrepreneur, and hacker, has managed to modify the iPhone 7 to bring back the headphone jack.

I love my iPhone, but it doesn't have a headphone jack! So I decided to add my own. For real.

Allen went through many iterations and a lot of debugging to get his creation working. He went through three complete iPhone 7 devices, a handful of screens and numerous internal components.

"I ended up designing lots of circuit boards that were more complex than anything I’ve ever done", says Allen. "I had three iterations of PCB designs manufactured, and 4 different flexible PCB designs."

Take a look at the video below or hit the link for details on how the feat was accomplished. You may also want to check out this video where Allen makes his own iPhone entirely from parts found in China.

Hey apple, if you can't figure out how to put a headphone jack back into the phone, let me know.... What a jackass. Apple could have done that and left the barameater in it, but they wanted to go towards water proofing which headphones can't be protected against with its big connectors.

It’s not because of waterproofing, Samsung and LG phones have headphone ports as well as a higher waterproofing rating. They are just moving on from that old technology.
